Denmark Outlaws Quran Burnings with New Legislation

Denmark's parliament has passed a law making it illegal to burn the Koran in public places, in an effort to deescalate tensions with Muslim countries following a series of Danish protests where the holy book was burned. The law aims to balance constitutionally protected freedom of speech with national security concerns, as the government fears that Koran burnings could provoke attacks by Islamists. Breaking the law will result in fines or up to two years in prison. Sweden is also considering measures to prevent Koran burnings.
