Infamous 'Cocaine Hippo' Pablo Escobar Killed in Colombia.

One of Pablo Escobar's "cocaine hippos" was hit and killed by a car on the Bogota-Medellin highway in Colombia. The hippos were originally smuggled by Escobar to his estate in the 1980s and have since flourished and spread beyond the area, with about 150 now in the region. The hippos were declared an invasive species in 2022 due to their large amount of urine and feces, which could pollute rivers and threaten native species. The Colombian government has dedicated $3.5 million to capture and transfer 70 of the hippos to sanctuaries in Mexico and India.
