Switzerland Halts Sale of Leopard Tanks to Ukraine, Dealing Blow to Zelensky's Fight Against Russia

Switzerland has blocked arms maker Ruag AG from selling nearly 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine, citing inconsistency with applicable law and Switzerland's status as a neutral country. The tanks, currently stored in Italy and owned by Ruag, were intended to be refurbished in Germany before being sent to Ukraine. This decision is separate from a deal involving the sale of 25 Leopard 2 tanks from the Swiss army to German company Rheinmetall AG, which has received Swiss government support and is expected to proceed without sending the tanks to Ukraine.
