The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have spotted 48 Chinese fishing vessels guarded by warships in the country's Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea. The presence of Chinese maritime assets, including China Coast Guard (CCG) ships and People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels, has also been observed at Sabina Shoal. The Philippines plans to forward detailed reports to higher authorities to potentially file a diplomatic protest, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding Philippine sovereignty and territorial rights. The area in question, including Iroquois Reef and Reed Bank, is rich in hydrocarbon resources but is subject to territorial disputes between the Philippines and China.
