NSC Spokesperson Hails Ceasefire in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

The United States welcomes the 72-hour ceasefire in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), following confidence-building measures secured during Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines' recent visit to the region. The ceasefire aims to facilitate the withdrawal of forces from certain areas and protect civilians. The US will monitor the activities of armed forces and non-state armed groups during the ceasefire and supports the resumption of processes addressing the underlying factors of the conflict.
