Satellite photos reveal that two oil tankers recently seized by Iran, the Advantage Sweet and the Niovi, are anchored off the coast of Bandar Abbas near a naval base in Iran's Hormozgan province. The seizure of the Advantage Sweet, carrying Kuwaiti crude oil for Chevron, and the Niovi, a Panama-flagged tanker, may have been taken for different reasons. The Niovi's seizure is suspected to be related to a dispute over a shipment of Iranian oil, while the Advantage Sweet's seizure was claimed to be due to it striking another ship. Purported emails suggest that cargo carried by the Niovi was sold on to firms in China without permission.
