Divergent Views on Productivity of Jeddah Talks between Ukraine and Russia

Talks held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the war between Ukraine and Russia were deemed productive by Ukraine, but Russia dismissed them as a futile attempt to gain support from the Global South. Over 40 countries, including China, India, and the US, participated in the talks, which focused on securing international backing for Ukraine's principles of peace, including the withdrawal of Russian troops and the return of Ukrainian territory. While direct peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow seem unlikely, participants agreed on the importance of continued consultations to pave the way for peace.
