African leaders seek Putin's help for peace in Ukraine.

African leaders, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg to seek a road to peace in the 16-month-long Ukraine war, which has caused devastating economic impact, loss of life, and global instability. The delegation aims to bring the warring sides to the negotiating table, despite both sides playing down the possibility. The leaders visited Kyiv on Friday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but he rebuffed efforts to bring Kyiv to the negotiating table imminently and ruled out any peace negotiations with Russia until Moscow’s troops withdraw from his country’s territory.
