"Tragic Desert Expulsions: Stories of Survival and Struggle"

At least 27 sub-Saharan African refugees and migrants have died in the desert after being expelled from Tunisia and abandoned near the Libya border, according to Libyan authorities. The refugees and migrants were forced to walk for days without water, food, or shelter in scorching temperatures. Libyan border guards and rights groups accuse Tunisia of engaging in "collective expulsions" by dumping refugees and migrants in remote desert areas. Tunisia denies these allegations and claims that it is not responsible for what happens outside its borders. Thousands of migrants have attempted to leave Tunisia for Europe this year after a crackdown was announced by President Kais Saied.
