Surgeon Fired for Enlisting Cleaner's Help in Amputation

A surgeon at Mainz University Hospital in Germany was fired after getting a cleaner with no medical experience to assist in a toe amputation when no qualified assistant was available. The incident happened in 2020 and didn't result in any complications to the patient. The hospital expressed regret and the doctor was fired. In a separate incident, a German doctor was sentenced to prison for illegally issuing more than 4,000 people with exemptions from wearing masks during the pandemic.
