"UNRWA-WHO Delivers Vital Medical Supplies to Al-Shifa Hospital"

UNRWA has successfully delivered emergency medical supplies and medicines to Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, despite the ongoing bombardments and risks to staff. This is only the second delivery since the escalation of hostilities and the total siege of Gaza began. However, the quantities delivered are far from sufficient to meet the immense needs in the Gaza Strip. Al-Shifa hospital is facing disastrous conditions, with overcrowded wards and a shortage of medicines and anesthetics. Tens of thousands of displaced people have sought shelter in the hospital's parking lots and yards. UNRWA and WHO urgently call for the delivery of fuel to ensure the operation of medical facilities and other essential services. They also emphasize the need for the protection of medical facilities, personnel, and patients, as well as the medical evacuation of critically injured individuals.
