UK sees first births using DNA from 3 people.

The UK's Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority has confirmed the birth of the country's first babies created using an experimental technique that combines DNA from three people. The technique is aimed at preventing children from inheriting rare genetic diseases. The genetic defects can result in diseases such as muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, heart problems and intellectual disabilities. The UK became the world's first country to adopt legislation specifically regulating methods to help prevent women with faulty mitochondria from passing defects on to their babies.
