Germany to Provide Ukraine with Advanced Luna NG Reconnaissance Drones

Germany has reportedly ordered defense corporation Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine's Armed Forces with the Luna NG unmanned aerial reconnaissance system, an updated version of the Luna X-2000 drone. The system, which includes a ground control station, several drones, and a launch catapult, will be delivered by the end of 2023. The Luna NG can fly continuously for 12 hours over a distance of more than 100 kilometers and has a maximum cruising altitude of 5,000 meters. While Rheinmetall plans to release an armed version of the drone, it will not be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year.
