Tropical Storm Bret Threatens Caribbean Islands with Strong Winds and Flooding

Tropical Storm Bret is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles on Thursday morning, bringing strong winds, torrential downpours, and rough surf to parts of the Caribbean. A tropical storm warning is in effect for St. Lucia, and tropical storm watches are in effect for Barbados, Dominica, and Martinique. Up to 6 inches of rain is possible, with isolated amounts as high as 10 inches for portions of the Lesser Antilles, which could lead to flash flooding. Bret is the second named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, and if it had strengthened into a hurricane, it would have been a rarity.
