Mercury's Ongoing Shrinkage Unveils Wrinkled Surface

New research suggests that Mercury, the smallest planet in our solar system, may still be shrinking today. Scientists from The Open University in the UK analyzed images taken by the NASA MESSENGER spacecraft and discovered geological features called grabens, indicating recent tectonic activity and suggesting that Mercury's core may not have completely cooled. The upcoming BepiColombo mission by the European Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will provide further observations and data on Mercury's shrinking process.
