2022 Census Reveals Seattle's Growing Racial Diversity

The 2020 census results provide a detailed breakdown of the racial and ethnic diversity in the United States, with participants given the opportunity to report detailed responses about their race and ethnicity. For the first time since 1960, respondents who identified as "White" and/or "Black" were asked to provide their non-Hispanic origins in a write-in area, allowing for more detailed information about their backgrounds. The census also encouraged individuals of Middle Eastern or North African descent, currently categorized as white, to share their specific backgrounds. However, some responses were classified as "not specified" due to incomplete or unclear information.
