Remembering Mike Shuster: NPR's Veteran Foreign Correspondent

Mike Shuster, an award-winning foreign correspondent for NPR, has passed away at the age of 76. Over his three-decade career, he covered major events around the world, including the Gulf wars, conflicts in Israel and Palestine, the Bosnian civil war, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the rise of newly independent states. Shuster was known for his extensive reporting on Iran and his coverage of the Middle East. He received numerous awards for his work and continued to contribute to historical projects after retiring from NPR in 2013. He died at home in Southern California due to complications from Parkinson's disease.
