Revolutionary Treatment Restores Sense of Smell in Long-COVID Patients

Researchers have conducted a small study suggesting that a minimally invasive procedure called a stellate ganglion block, commonly used to treat pain and circulation problems, may be an effective treatment for chronic changes in sense of smell caused by COVID-19. The study involved 54 patients with post-COVID parosmia, and the majority reported an improved sense of smell after receiving the procedure. While the findings are based on a small sample size and have not yet undergone peer review, the potential treatment offers hope for those experiencing long-term smell disturbances due to COVID-19.
