Illegal Medical Lab in California Uncovered with Bioengineered Mice and Infectious Agents, Including HIV and Herpes

An illegal medical lab containing nearly 1,000 bioengineered mice and samples of infectious diseases, including HIV and herpes, was discovered in a warehouse in Fresno, California. The lab, operated by Prestige Biotech, had improperly stored tissue samples and various medical testing supplies. Roughly 200 mice were found dead, and the rest were euthanized. The lab also contained refrigerators and freezers, some of which were non-operational, and several disease samples tested positive for infectious agents like coronavirus and E. Coli. The investigation into the lab's origins and activities is ongoing.
