Captivating Images of the Super Blue Moon Illuminate the Globe

Stargazers around the world were treated to the rare sight of a blue supermoon, the closest full moon of the year, on Wednesday night. The moon appeared larger and brighter than usual due to its close proximity to Earth. While the term "blue moon" refers to the second full moon in a month, the moon itself does not actually appear blue. Only about three percent of full moons are blue moons, and the next blue supermoon is not expected until 2037. However, another regular supermoon is set to occur at the end of September.
