A meteorologist from the National Weather Service's Grand Rapids Service office stated that there is a chance of favorable sky conditions for the April 8 eclipse in the Lansing area, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. While the eclipse won't be total, it will reach 96-97% coverage, lasting about 2½ hours. The meteorologist and his colleagues are prepared with eclipse glasses and some plan to travel to the path of totality. The forecast for the event will be clearer next week, but ultimate confidence may not be possible until the day of the eclipse.
