NASA Unveils Futuristic X-59 Supersonic Jet in Impressive Video

NASA's X-59 QuessT, an experimental supersonic jet designed to reduce sonic booms, has been rolled out of the hangar by Lockheed Martin. The jet features a unique geometry with a long pointed nose section, but pilots won't be able to see out of the front of the cockpit. To address this, the X-59 is equipped with an External Vision System (XVS) that uses cameras and augmented reality to provide pilots with a forward line-of-sight. Ground testing will be conducted before the jet flies over residential areas to analyze public reaction to its reduced sonic boom. NASA aims to seek approval for commercial supersonic flight to potentially reduce domestic air travel times.
