Hughes is set to launch its Jupiter 3 satellite, which will provide 50Mbps and 100Mbps speeds to customers in North America later this year. The satellite will be launched by SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket and will be placed in geostationary orbit, allowing it to reach the entire Western Hemisphere of the Earth. Jupiter 3 will be the largest satellite Hughes has ever built, with a total data transfer capacity of 500 gigabits per second. The satellite will help narrow the digital divide by providing broadband to rural areas where internet service providers don't lay fiber and cable.
