Astronauts have reported that space has a distinct smell, with the moon reminiscent of gunpowder and burnt steak, and comets giving off the pungent aroma of urine. The smells are attributed to factors such as single oxygen atoms adhering to space suits during spacewalks and the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Additionally, space can also have the aroma of alcohol, as evidenced by a gas cloud containing an abundance of ethyl alcohol. Furthermore, the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko was found to have molecules rich in hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, while Uranus's upper atmosphere is composed of hydrogen sulfide, giving it a smell akin to farts.
