Engineers Uncover Why Space Rovers Keep Getting Stuck

University of Wisconsin–Madison engineers discovered that traditional Earth-based testing of space rovers overestimates their mobility on the Moon and Mars because it overlooks the effect of Earth's gravity on the terrain, leading to more accurate simulations that consider gravity's impact on granular soil, which could improve rover design and mission success.
