Scientists at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have successfully controlled a swarm of remote-controlled cyborg cockroaches equipped with backpacks to navigate a sandy test area, potentially paving the way for their use in search-and-rescue missions or environmental readings. The researchers believe that these cyborg insects could be deployed by larger robots to locate missing people after natural disasters, and they are also exploring the possibility of turning rainbow crabs into cyborgs to assist the cockroaches.
