This improved understanding can help in predicting volcanic systems, earthquakes, and eruptions. However, the findings do not indicate that Yellowstone is any closer to a massive eruption, as the underground remains mostly solid. The most recent volcanic eruption in the park occurred approximately 70,000 years ago.
