A new species of extinct feline, named Magerifelis peignei, has been discovered in Madrid, Spain, dating back to the Middle Miocene period. Despite its small size, it had powerful muscles and a strong bite force, enabling it to hunt relatively large prey, possibly including prehistoric deer.
