"Outbreak of Deadly Bacterial Disease Strikes Southern California Dogs"

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control issued an animal health advisory after four dogs in Southern California tested positive for salmon poisoning disease, caused by a bacteria found in a parasite in wild fish. The infected dogs showed symptoms such as lethargy, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, and required hospitalization, but all four have since recovered. Dog owners are urged to avoid feeding pets raw trout from sport fishing and to monitor their dogs for symptoms if they have been exposed to raw fish.
