Closest Earth-Sized Exoplanet Discovered Just 22 Light-Years Away

Scientists have confirmed the existence of an Earth-sized exoplanet, LTT 1445 Ac, orbiting a small red dwarf star just 22 light-years away. Although too hot for life, its similarity to Earth makes it an important target for studying planet evolution. The exoplanet resides in a trinary system, making it challenging to observe. However, using the Hubble Space Telescope, researchers were able to obtain high-resolution transit data, determining the exoplanet's diameter and density. Further characterization of LTT 1445 Ac can provide insights into the formation and evolution of Earth-like worlds and the potential for life elsewhere in the galaxy.
