"New England Braces for Weekend Snowstorm and Frigid Temperatures"

The National Weather Service forecasts snow for southern New England on Friday, with southeastern Rhode Island expected to receive more accumulation than areas to the north and west. Block Island may get 2 to 5 inches, Newport 1 to 3 inches, and Foster 1 to 2 inches, while Woonsocket should get less. The snow is likely to impact the afternoon commute near and to the south and east of Interstate 95. Winter weather advisories could be posted as far west as the Providence metro area, with cold temperatures persisting into the weekend and sub-zero wind chills expected.
