Heatwave Continues: Relief in Sight as Temperatures Cool

The Central Coast experienced scorching temperatures, with SLO reaching 106 degrees, one of the hottest in the country. Although not an official record, in 1987 SLO hit 108 degrees due to a strong ridge of high pressure. Santa Maria broke the record for the hottest October 6th with a temperature of 101 degrees. Saturday will remain hot, but winds will likely shift earlier as the high-pressure ridge moves east. Cooling is expected on Sunday, with temperatures falling into the 80s, and a cold front arriving on Monday will bring a dramatic drop in temperatures.
