Cooler Weather and Hurricane Erin's Impact This Week

Today in the DC area, expect mostly cloudy skies with some showers possible in the afternoon, and highs in the mid- to upper 70s, cooler than recent days. The weather will remain cloudy tonight and into Tuesday with a slight chance of showers, but sunnier weather is expected later in the week as Hurricane Erin passes offshore, bringing mostly dry and warm conditions with highs in the 80s. Coastal areas are under threat from Hurricane Erin, which has strengthened to Category 4, causing dangerous surf and evacuation orders in parts of North Carolina.
