Cold and Snowy New Year's Eve Forecast Across the U.S.

A weather system is expected to bring rain to Southern California and mountain snow to the Northeast on New Year's Eve, with possible light snow flurries in New York City and heavy lake-effect snow in the Great Lakes region, while much of the rest of the country remains dry and warmer.
