Coastal Flooding Alert: Ophelia's Remnants and Supermoon Pose Risk to 1,000 Miles of East Coast

Hundreds of miles of coastline from the Northeast to the Southeast are on alert for coastal flooding as the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia and the final Supermoon of 2023 bring heavy rains and king tides. The New York City tri-state area is particularly at risk, with heavy rains potentially leading to widespread flash flooding. Flood watches have been issued for most of New Jersey, and there is a good chance of 3 to 5 inches of rain falling across heavily populated areas in the Northeast. Coastal concerns and strong winds are increasing the flood threat, and coastal flood alerts are in effect along the East Coast. Southeastern Georgia and northern Florida are also at risk of coastal flooding due to king tides.
