Tragic Accident: California Toddler Fatally Shoots Sibling

A 3-year-old child in Southern California accidentally shot and killed their 1-year-old sibling after accessing an unsecured handgun. The incident occurred in Fallbrook, and the child was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead. The identities of the family have not been released. Firearms in California are required by law to be stored in locked containers or disabled by security devices. This tragedy adds to the more than 200 unintentional shootings by children in the U.S. this year, including six others in California.
