Kenya's Evans Chebet secures back-to-back Boston Marathon victory.

The 127th Boston Marathon took place with over 30,000 runners and athletes from 100 countries participating. The Men's and Women's Wheelchair divisions, Handcycles & Duos groups, and Professional Men, Professional Women, and Para Athletics Division all completed the grueling 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. Heavy rain fell along Boylston Street, but runners continued to brave the wet conditions. Evans Chebet of Kenya won the Men's division, while Hellen Obiri of Kenya won the Women's division. Marcel Hug of Switzerland won the men's wheelchair race, and Susannah Scaroni of the United States won the women's wheelchair division. Former Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz served as the grand marshal of the race, and Zdeno Chara, a longtime Boston Bruins captain, also competed.
