Defining the Midwest: Surprising Perspectives from Ohio, Idaho, and Kansas

A study conducted by Middle West Review and Emerson College Polling found that 78% of Ohioans consider their state to be part of the Midwest, although this percentage is lower compared to other traditionally Midwestern states. The study, which collected over 11,000 responses from 22 states, revealed that a majority of residents in various Midwestern states identify themselves as Midwesterners, highlighting the strength of regional identity in the Midwest.
