Texas to use buoy barrier to prevent undocumented border crossings

TL;DR Summary
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the state will install a barrier made of buoys along a section of the Rio Grande to prevent people from wading or swimming across the river from Mexico seeking refuge in the US. The installation of the buoys would begin immediately, and the buoys will be four to six feet high with webbing underneath to prevent people from swimming under them. The buoy plan was announced as Abbott signed into law six bills which will target immigration, part of a $5.1bn package approved by the Texas legislature.
