The Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from a group of Trump-allied lawyers, including Sidney Powell and Lin Wood, who faced sanctions in Michigan over their baseless claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The lawyers were ordered to pay over $150,000 in legal fees and were referred to their state bar associations for disciplinary proceedings. Powell, who famously pledged to "release the Kraken" in her legal challenge, also reached a plea deal in a separate racketeering case in October.
