Senate Confirms Top Military Nominees, Ending Tuberville's Abortion Protest and Standoff

The Senate has confirmed the final group of military nominees affected by Senator Tommy Tuberville's 10-month hold on promotions in protest of a Pentagon abortion policy. Tuberville had blocked over 400 military promotions since February, but recently lifted the hold for all but 11 four-star generals. The Senate confirmed nearly a dozen four-star generals who had been in limbo, following the confirmation of over 400 promotions for nominees three stars and below. Tuberville faced pressure from colleagues to drop the protest, and after caving, admitted they didn't achieve as much as they wanted.
