Michigan Governor Whitmer Takes Action on Gun Safety Legislation.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed two gun safety bills into law, which include mandatory safe storage rules and universal background checks. The bills were passed with the help of the Democrats' new-found majority in the state House and Senate. A third law dealing with extreme risk protection orders is still in the legislature. The new laws will take effect next year.
