House GOP Proposes Tax Cuts for Wealthy After Debt Ceiling Fight

Republican lawmakers have introduced three new bills that would cut taxes for large companies, small businesses, and individual families while reducing clean energy tax incentives to pay for it. The proposed tax cuts could add at least $21 billion to the national deficit over the next decade. The elimination of green energy tax credits is expected to pay for $216 billion of the tax cuts' $240 billion price tag over the next decade. The White House called the bills a "tax scam," and critics argue that the GOP's priority is giving handouts to rich special interests and corporations at the expense of everyone else.
