The ordinance claims that “federal law imposes felony criminal liability on every person who ships or receives abortion pills or abortion-related paraphernalia in interstate or foreign commerce.” However, it is unclear how the city intends to enforce the ordinance, which directly conflicts with Illinois law. The ACLU of Illinois has called the ordinance “an unlawful and unenforceable ordinance to limit access to abortion in the city.”
