International Pressure Mounts for Israel to Deescalate Gaza Conflict

Calls for Israel to scale back its military campaign in Gaza are growing, even from surprising places such as the United States, Israel's staunch ally. US President Joe Biden has expressed concern over Israel's actions and is sending Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to the region to pressure Israel to reduce the intensity of its invasion. Germany and France have also called for a sustained cease-fire. The increasing civilian death toll and destruction caused by Israel's attacks, as well as the use of "dumb bombs," have raised concerns among international allies.
