Hawaiian Electric Faces Lawsuits Over Maui Wildfires

A Hawaiian couple has filed a lawsuit against four power companies, including Hawaiian Electric Industries, accusing them of ignoring weather warnings and keeping their power lines energized during the historic Maui wildfires. The couple, who own a house in Lahaina, claim that the companies' actions caused loss of life, destruction of homes and businesses, and damage to cultural sites. The death toll from the wildfires currently stands at 93, with an estimated $6 billion in damages. The power companies have not commented on the pending litigation.
