Controversy Surrounds American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.

Epidemiologist Dr. Tracy Høeg accused American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten of misrepresenting her study to Congress to argue that schools should have remained closed during the height of COVID-19. Høeg's study, published by the CDC, found low levels of coronavirus transmission in schools. She claimed that the CDC ignored her study and European data, and instead relied on the AFT's advice. Høeg disagreed with the AFT's requests for mitigation to reopen schools and warned about the dangers of not reopening schools in multiple op-eds.
