Advancements in PET/CT technology revolutionize cancer treatment and diagnosis

A study led by researchers at Heidelberg University Hospital found that Ga-68 FAPI-PET/CT imaging detected malignant lesions not visible on standard imaging in over half of the 226 cancer patients studied, leading to changes in management and more accurate therapy planning. The study evaluated the clinical impact of Ga-68 FAPI-PET/CT in patients with various solid tumors and found that it had a high impact on TNM staging and oncologic management, particularly in lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and head and neck tumors. The results suggest the potential value of Ga-68 FAPI-PET/CT in improving the treatment of cancer patients.
