"Massachusetts Hospitals Revise Infant Neglect Reporting Policies to Address Structural Racism"

Mass General Brigham hospitals will no longer report suspected infant neglect solely based on a positive drug test, instead requiring written consent before conducting such tests on expectant mothers or infants in most cases, in an effort to address racial and ethnic inequities in healthcare and the disproportionate impact of substance abuse disorder on Black individuals during pregnancy.
