Revolutionary Implant Enables Parkinson's Patients to Walk Again

An experimental implant has successfully restored the ability to walk in a Parkinson's disease patient after 25 years of suffering, according to a study published in Nature Medicine. The implant, developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, University Hospital Lausanne, and NeuroRestore, stimulates nerves in the legs through the brain, improving balance and reducing gait freezing. While researchers remain cautious about its future prospects, they plan to test the technology on six additional patients.
